We're six days into our contest with Retailpond.com -- a new website that aims to help you grow your local economy by helping you discover and support quality local artisans and independent brands.

(Learn more about how Retailpond works, and what inspired founder Dominic Stann to get it going.)

All you have to do to enter to win one of the 13 locally made prizes is sign up to explore Retailpond's beta site, and create a quick, simple profile. There's no commitment, and your email won't be shared with other parties.

Then to take it up a notch for the $500 gift (which can used to buy anything on Retailpond between the contest's end date and June 30, 2014), just tell us a bit about the local products you love or make.

Maybe it's one-of-a-kind local jeweller. Or an innovative wooden kids' toy. Beautifully made re-purposed leather accessories, locally designed clothing, or cheeky stationary. Whatever it is, tell us about it. Retailpond is launching with dozens of curated Vancouver-area artisans and independent brands, but would love your "crowd-curated" suggestions for who should be added to their "shelves" next. And what city should come next in its eventual North-America wide expansion.

Every submission is being published on The Tyee, so this fun and fast "crowd curation" exercise will quickly create a big list of quality artisans and locally-owned brands from all across Canada for readers to check out.

Artisans and entrepreneurs: By all means tells us about your own product!

Consider this a crowd-sourced showcase that Retailpond's curators will watch for ideas, and Tyee readers will scan to see what's out there. Our easy submission form asks you to identify yourself as the designer/producer, so there's no need to feel shy about promoting your creations.

All right, what are you waiting for? Get started with your entry now.

Check out some of our readers' recommendations so far (then pen your own to win!).

I love Jewellery by Cabin + Cub from Vancouver. I don't wear much jewellery, but I can't stop buying this woman's stuff! It's fantastic, beautiful, unique, cheerful, and it makes me happy every time I see it. -- Caitlin A.

I love Kids Organic Clothing Store by Mini Mioche from Toronto. Organic, eco-friendly, made in Canada children's apparel and accessories. Operates flagship store downtown Toronto. Just opened its second location within the city. Clothing is soft, durable and simple, so it goes with everything! I fell in love with this store upon having my first child and will keep going back for basics each season. -- Kim M.

I love jewellery by Brazen Designs from Montreal. Brazen Designs made me a one-off pendent that was better than I could have even imagined! It wasn't just the care put into the design but also caring and prompt the customer service that impressed me. -- Cassin E.

I make CUSH and I'm Brodie Davison in Vancouver, B.C. Soft home decor, cushions and pillows made using rare, vintage and up-cycled fabrics. Sustainable meets one of a kind. CUSH makes your life a little softer. -- Brodie D.

I love goat milk soap by Cascadia Soaps from White Rock, B.C. I have mildly sensitive skin and so try to buy soap that doesn't have any artificial ingredients in it. I discovered Cascadia Soaps at Granville Island (where they have a booth) some years ago and have never had to scout for soap anywhere else. It's a relief to be able to buy soap that doesn't smell weird (highly perfumed) and rinses off when you want it to. They also make Manuka honey soap which is like a miracle for dealing with any kind of skin issues. -- G. M.

I love knitting patterns by Sylvia Bo Bilvia from Vancouver. A young local knitwear designer. Beautiful shawl and hat designs, easy to follow patterns. Professional photographs and layout. She's got it all! -- Anonymous

I love Greeting cards by Regional Assembly of Text from Vancouver. Two Emily Carr graduates opened an art/stationary store on Main Street several years ago. They make zines and paper things with their own, very particular and charming aesthetic. They silkscreen t-shirts too and have letter writing nights (with typewriters). Oh, and buttonmaking! Check it out! -- Dana P.

I love clothes by Jacqueline Conoir from Vancouver. The best locally manufactured suits, blouses and dressy casual wear around. Amazing service, great sales, and fun fashion shows. -- Amy R.

I love Bamboletta Dolls by Christine Platt from Cobble Hill. Absolutely gorgeous, handmade dolls for children. Bamboletta is one of the more remarkable companies I know, employing many women in Cobble Hill and collaborating with other local producers like the Cowichan Band (for doll sweaters), and local super stars Smoking Lily. Their dolls are nothing short of a work of art in their craftsmanship, whimsy and attention to detail. It is a fantastic company. -- Emira M.

I love Jewellery by Stephanie Menard from Vancouver. Stephanie makes all of her jewellery out of her shop in her store, Tiny Finery, in Hastings Sunrise. Her jewellery is beautiful. She uses precious metals and stones as well as vintage fabrics in her designs. Tiny Finery has a fabulous aesthetic. I highly recommend the shop for locally produced gifts and trinkets. -- Emily W.

I love bedding by bed from Vancouver B.C. Locally made incredible bedding. Sheets, pillow cases duvet covers etc. In incredible colors and styles all made locally. I love this store and helpful staff. 2907 West Broadway, Vancouver. Check them out! -- Sidney M.

I love Refilling dish soap by The Soap Dispensary from Vancouver. The Soap Dispensary gives me the opportunity to my own containers and have them refilled with the products I need, such as laundry soap, dish soap, vinegar, dishwashing detergent, essential oils, dried lavender, soap making supplies... the list goes on! Not only that, they sell many alternative to plastic products such as toilet bushes, cotton bags, natural rubber household gloves and much more. -- Sarah M.

I love Leather products by Five Left Leather from Vancouver. Amazing rustic hand made leather bags, belts, accessories and other awesome stuff. -- Kevin R.
