Tyee Poll: Do You Think an Early Election Will Be Called in BC?

There’s been talk of an early election getting called in B.C.

On Monday, Sonia Furstenau won the race to become the new leader of the BC Greens. In her speech, she encouraged the NDP not to call an early election.

“You have a responsibility to govern, not play politics,” Furstenau said.

Three years after the NDP’s ability to form government in 2017 was supported by a co-operation agreement with the Greens, that loyalty might be pinned against them. In the midst of what is largely seen as a positive handling of the pandemic in the province, Premier John Horgan and the NDP may try to vie for a majority government.

For many British Columbians, the idea of going to the polls as COVID-19 cases rise feels not only unnecessary, but also an issue of safety. And yet, an early election seems like a very real possibility. With all this in mind, we want to ask:

Do you think an early election will be called in B.C.?
