Tyee Poll: Are You For or Against Gig Work?

Over the last decade the gig economy has been marketed as a revolution that provides workers with opportunity and freedom. Others argue that with the increasingly precarious work and isolation that gig work has ushered in, workers’ lives are actually harder and worse off.

In B.C. and Canada, this conversation about gig work is having a renewed moment. On the Tyee, we’ve taken a look at the experiences of ride-hailing drivers (a part of the gig economy popularized by companies like Uber and Lyft) across Canada as well as how Canadian labour has tried to grapple with the potential challenges of this new economy. We also explored the various ways the increasing prevalence of gig work affects workers in a new series this week.

We wanted to hear from you. What do you think about gig work?
