Our trade war with President Trump is the biggest trade action we’ve experienced since the Second World War. The U.S. is imposing tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum products from Canada; Canada is retaliating with a plan to impose trade restrictions, likely a surtax, on the same products and perhaps other goods. Our Department of Finance wants you to comment on what those goods should be. A lot of them are everyday items that we have Canadian versions of. After all, do we really need American maple syrup?
