This episode of the Tyee Chumbucket is a big one. Because it's about the big one.
Ann Pacey, a retired chemical engineer living in Vancouver's Dunbar neighbourhood, has spent the last few years preparing her family and home for natural disaster and/or economic collapse -- whichever comes first. We stop in for a visit and get a tour of the food reserves, chicken coop, and learn what skills she's developed to prepare herself. Warning: one skill, learned from watching YouTube, is somewhat gory but also rather impressive. Get your emergency preparedness clipboard ready.
We also chat with Ariel Fournier, who's just finished a brief stint interning at The Tyee and comes to us with some highlights from her conversation with the UN Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing, Miloon Kothari. Did we listen to his recommendations from the last time he visited us? No. But he did enjoy the DNC Street Market.
Thanks for listening, folks.
