What's a chumbucket? It's the trusty sidekick of every fisherman and woman, a necessity on every journey into the wilds of B.C. More prosaically, it's just a bucket of bait. Are we overdoing the fish metaphors yet?

Our first podcast tackles science and magic. Well, mostly science. We speak with Candis Callison, a journalism professor at the University of British Columbia, about her J-source essay on new media and covering climate change -- why so few do it right, and what can be done.

We'll also play an interview with Steven Waller, an archaeoacoustics expert that co-host Justin Ritchie met at the recent American Association for the Advancement of Science conference in Vancouver. Hear their conversation about the auditory illusion of Stonehenge.

We wind down with Tyee reporter Colleen Kimmett, describing a recent story she worked on involving some quality time with a glacier.

In the future, as the podcast grows, we'll bring in more voices from in and around B.C. And we hope to add your ideas. What Tyee reporters do you want to hear from? Who should we interview next?
