As the B.C. government moves to expand grizzly hunting permits in the Peace River region -- public consultation is open until Jan. 31 -- one wildlife photographer has taken a personal stand against the trophy hunt.
In the first episode of a short video series, John E. Marriot says he often drives along the Stewart-Cassiar highway in northern B.C. to capture images of bears. There he meets hunters seeking bears for a different purpose -- the thrill of shooting a wild animal.
Here Marriot calls out roadside hunting as well as trophy hunting more widely.
