NASA's New Horizons spacecraft took off from Florida in January 2006. Nine years and three billion miles later (that's 4.8 billion in kilometres) it finally reached its destination, Pluto, on July 14, 2015. The craft travelled faster than anything else made by humans and is now revealing images and information about the ex-planet that has previously been impossible to know.
The flyby "will herald the end of an era of exploration," says one of the scientist in the video. But it also represents the beginning of a new era of knowledge and exploration of what lies beyond the knows planets and the mass of matter known as the Kuiper Belt.
