Who are the homeless? They could be you or me or anyone we know. They are good people, down on their luck (or made so by systemic causes beyond their control).
That's the take-away from this video, produced by Surrey Homelessness and Housing Society, in which a number of formerly homeless people tell their stories.
The Surrey Housing and Homelessness Society was created through an endowment from the City of Surrey to, as their website says, raise, manage, and distribute funds to support programs, projects and initiatives that help eliminate homelessness.
Last week was Homeless Action Week. We missed it. But, really, it's always a good time to get acquainted with your neighbours, especially the ones who live on your street.
