This ten year-old singer/songwriter is Ta'Kaiya Blaney, a Sliammon First Nation from British Columbia. With sweet tones and thoughtful lyrics, the youngster reminds us of the importance of conserving the environment in her home province.
"Shallow Waters" was a semi-finalist in David Suzuki's songwriting contest, "Playlist for the Planet." The video includes footage from a number of sources, including a clip by filmmaker Mike McKinlay, whose "Eagle Among the Swarm" won second place in The Tyee's REEL BC Video Contest in fall 2011.
