If and when a Tyee story infuriates you today, we are asking that you hold your fire in the spirit of the holiday season. Comments will be closed until January 3. It's become a holiday tradition here. Most of us take a couple of weeks off to recharge and, as a result, you are freed to attend to your seasonal obligations. We trust you'll be back first thing in the new year to revive the tumultuous and insightful comment threads that make The Tyee such a fascinating communal effort.

It's been another great year for The Tyee. We've gone totally mobile, broken some big stories, covered elections and revolts, brought aboard new voices including Kai Nagata and Brigette DePape, launched a new video window to showcase your viral best, won a few nice awards, and have seen our traffic rise significantly. You who hold us accountable and enrich the conversation with your comments are essential to that success. Thank you!

Let us all raise a digital glass together and toast to an equally successful collaboration in 2012. Until then, our threads will remain quiet as new fallen snow.
