Win tickets to see Edward Snowden: Big Data, Security, and Human Rights

Snowden will join Metro Vancouverites live via web-link for a conversation about the power, promise and peril of big data. This event sold out within 24 hours of tickets going on sale, but The Tyee has snagged 20 pairs to give away to a few lucky readers.

A polarizing figure, both revered and reviled the world over, Edward Snowden is an American intelligence contractor who in 2013 exposed the existence of secret NSA information-gathering programs. Snowden revealed thousands of classified NSA documents, and in so doing became the subject of intense controversy.

Whether you see him as a hero or a traitor, a patriot or a dissident, his disclosures have fueled important debates around mass surveillance, government secrecy, and the balance between national security and information privacy.

'Edward Snowden: Big Data, Security, and Human Rights' will take place Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver.

The event will include a keynote presentation by Edward Snowden, followed by a moderated Q&A led by CBC Correspondent and Host, Laura Lynch, and feature expert panelists from SFU and the BC Civil Liberties Association. Audience members will have the opportunity to submit questions via Twitter using the hashtag #snowdenbigdata during the discussion.

Enter to win one of 20 pairs of tickets in the form below. Contest ends Monday, March 14, 2016.
