Tyee Poll: How Are You Vacationing During the Pandemic?

Dr. Réka Gustafson, B.C.’s deputy provincial health officer, delivered the COVID-19 update this week. Dr. Bonnie Henry is on vacation.

As the Monday release revealed, the Aug. 14-17 weekend showed an uptick of 236 cases — a steady climb as people continue to enjoy the hot weather.

Dr. Bonnie Henry’s Good Times Guide, rolled out in illustrated-comic form at the beginning of August, encourages us to playfully (but safely) “Spread fun — not COVID-19.”

The B.C. government also has Phase 3 travel guidelines for how to get out and still stay safe this summer, including researching locations and local guidelines before travel, respecting communities, and of course, keeping us on track with thematic taglines wherever we are.

“Fewer faces in bigger places.” Which is to say, be careful on the beach.

With COVID-19 far from behind us, but also the need to balance our mental health and well-being, we want to ask:

How are you vacationing during the pandemic?
