Prime Minister Harper says he sees no need for a second round of stimulus — for now — despite disappointing new job numbers.

The prime minister says the net loss of 9,300 jobs in July, and a massive 139,000-job reduction in full-time employment, is an indication that the global recovery remains fragile.

But he says the trend lines remain positive.

The $47-billion stimulus package introduced by the government in January 2009 is due to run out next spring.

Harper says at the moment he sees no need for a second round, but added the government is monitoring the situation.
