Helena Guergis, Conservative MP for Simcoe Grey, this morning left her cabinet position as minister of state for the status of women -- and left the Conservative caucus as well.
According to the Globe and Mail, Guergis sent a letter of resignation to Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The Star also reported the resignation, citing The Canadian Press.
On the CBC site, blogger Kady O'Malley presented the full text of Guergis's letter. She also reported that Harper has removed Guergis from the Conservative caucus.
As of Friday morning, Guergis's own website made no mention of her resignation, and the most recent update appeared to be a post dated March 8.
