Point Grey by-election results arriving

Polls closed at 8 p.m. in the Vancouver-Point Grey by-election, with the initial results now arriving.

Liberal leader Christy Clark is competing for the seat vacated by her predecessor as premier, Gordon Campbell.

The New Democratic Party candidate is David Eby, a lawyer on leave from his job as executive director of the B.C. Civil Liberties Association. The Green Party is running Françoise Raunet. BC First's Danielle Alie and independents Eddie Petrossian and William Gibbens complete the field.

Update, 8:25 p.m.: With one ballot box reporting, Eby has eight of the 16 votes counted. Clark has six, while Alie and Raunet each have one.

Update, 8:30 p.m.: With eight of 134 ballot boxes counted, Eby 181, Clark 154, Raunet 12 and Alie 11. Reporters tweeting from Clark and Eby headquarters have Clark ahead slightly with 243 votes to Eby's 239.
