Results arriving for Victoria and other CRD elections

Two-term councillor Dean Fortin is the new mayor of Victoria, beating business owner Rob Reid. He will be joined at the council table by incumbents Charlayne Thornton-Joe, Pam Madoff, Sonya Chandler, Geoff Young and Chris Coleman, as well as newcomers Philippe Lucas, Lynn Hunter and John Luton.

Councillor Barb Desjardins has knocked off incumbent Chris Clement to become mayor of Esquimalt. Winners of council seats, according to unofficial results, are Meagan Brame, Randall Garrison, Alison Gaul, Lynda Hundleby, Don Linge and Bruce McIldoon.

In North Saanich, unofficial results show Alice Finall beat incumbent mayor Ted Daly. Councillors are Peter Chandler, Ruby Commandeur, Sheilah Fea, Carine Green, Anny Scoones and Bob Shaw.

Jack Mar returns as mayor of Central Saanich, say unofficial results. Winning councillors are Alastair Bryson, John Garrison, Ron Kubek, Susan Mason, Adam Olsen and Terry Siklenka.

Sidney has unofficially elected Larry Cross as mayor, along with councillors Kenny Podmore, Marilyn Loveless, Mervyn Lougher-goodey, Cliff McNeil-Smith, Jeannette Hughes and Steve Price.

In Oak Bay, Christopher Causton returns as mayor. Unofficial results have Nils Jensen, Tara Ney, John Herbert, Pam Copley, Hazel Braithwaite and Alan Cassidy taking council seats.

Langford mayor Stewart Young was returned by acclamation. Denise Blackwell, Matthew Sahlstron, Lanny Seaton, Winnie Sifert, Lillian Szpak and Roger Wade have won council seats according to results posted on the municipal website.

In Colwood, David Saunders has won the mayor's race. He replaces Jody Twa, who will run for the B.C. Liberals in May's provincial election. Unofficial results have Judith Cullington, Gordie Logan, Shaun Wysiecki, Cynthia Day, Ernie Robertson and Brian Tucknot winning council seats.

Sooke mayor Janet Evans has won another term, beating former NDP and independent MLA Rick Kasper. Winning council candidates are David Bennett, Maja Tait, Sheila Beech, Herb Haldane, Ron Dumont and Bev Berger, says the unofficial results.

The region's largest municipality, Saanich, had not posted results to its website as of 10:40 p.m. on election night. Nor had the Highlands, View Royal or Metchosin.

In Saanich, Frank Leonard returns as mayor, with councillors Judy Brownoff, Susan Brice, Vic Derman, Vicki Sanders, Leif Wergeland, Dean Murdock, Wayne Hunter and Paul Gerrard.

Graham Hill was acclaimed as mayor of View Royal. Andrew Britton, Heidi Rast, John Rogers and David Screech won seats on council.

In the Highlands Jane Mendum upset incumbent mayor Mark Cardinal. Former mayor Karel Roessingh won a council position, as did Allen Dobb, Diane Gill, Sigurd Johannesen, Marcie McLean and Ken Williams.

In Metchosin John Ranns returns as mayor, with Jo Mitchell, Bob Gramigna, Larry Tremblay and Moralea Milne winning the council race.
