The Hook: Political news, freshly caught

Twitterverse covering BC municipal elections

B.C. tweeters are covering today's municipal elections from a variety of viewpoints. Here's how to follow events both today and tonight as the votes are counted.

Among the journalists tweeting about the elections are Frances Bula, Bob Mackin, Rod Mickleburgh and Stephen Hui.

Vancouver politicians tweeting the election include mayoral candidates Gregor Robertson and Suzanne Anton. Vancouver school trustee Patti Bacchus is also online.

Political organizations are also actively tweeting, among them Vision Vancouver, the NPA, and COPE Vancouver.

The municipal elections have also spun off many hashtags, including #vanelxn, #vanpoli, #bcpoli, #bced, and #VOTE. These provide links to many elections across B.C.

When the polls close at 8:00 p.m., results will appear on a number of official websites. In Vancouver, go to Vancouver votes. (You can also download the "Vancouver Votes" app, which has not attracted the interest officials had hoped for.) Elections BC will offer unofficial results across the province, and will provide Twitter updates on @CivicInfo.
