The Hook: Political news, freshly caught

Surrey-Green Timbers NDP support James, leadership review

The New Democratic Party's constituency association in Surrey-Green Timbers has passed a motion supporting leader Carole James, as well as the leadership review set for the 2011 party convention.

The motion, passed at the association's Oct. 19 annual general meeting, comes as other constituency associations have called for a full leadership convention.

The Surrey-Green Timbers motion supports following the leadership review process “approved overwhelmingly by the delegates” at the 2009 convention.

They also resolved “that the B.C. NDP supports Carole James as its Leader.”

Sue Hammell is the MLA for Surrey-Green Timbers.

Public Eye website has reported that NDP constituency associations in Cariboo North, Penticton and Fraser-Nicola have passed motions favouring a full leadership race, while the Comox Valley association has passed a motion supporting James and the planned leadership review.
