The Hook: Political news, freshly caught

Image Group's government biz took tumble

Ten provincial government entities did business with Laura Hansen's I.G. Image Group Inc. in the last year, half as many as a year earlier.

Hansen, identified on Image Group's website as the company's sole owner and president, is married to British Columbia Finance Minister Colin Hansen.

The company sells promotional materials including clothing, bags and lapel pins.

According to Colin Hansen's Nov. 27 public disclosure statement, Image Group's clients included the ministries of healthy living and sport, forests and range, and Attorney General. They also included three health authorities and four Crown corporations, B.C. Hydro, ICBC, the BC Innovation Council and the B.C. Transmission Corporation.

That's a drop from a year earlier. Hansen's 2008 disclosure form identified 20 government agencies that bought goods from Image Group. They included seven ministries, four health authorities, nine Crown corporations and the Electoral Boundaries Commission.

Two years ago the Tyee reported that Hansen's disclosure form noted 11 government agencies were Image Group customers.
