Wyse defeated while Oppal and Huntington headed for recount

VICTORIA - Incumbents Wally Oppal and Charlie Wyse have been defeated, according to the most recent announcement from Elections B.C..

Following final counts independent Vicki Huntington is ahead of the B.C. Liberal Party's Oppal by 32 votes in Delta South and the Liberal's Donna Barnett has beaten the New Democratic Party's Wyse by 88 votes in Cariboo-Chilcotin.

The Delta South result is within 0.2 percent of the total ballots cast and is therefore close enough that there will automatically be a judicial recount.

Barnett's victory is by a wide enough margin that election law does not require a recount, though any voter, candidate or district electoral officer may request one if they believe votes were not correctly counted.
