After meeting with Lt.-Gov. Judith Guichon at Government House in Victoria, Premier Christy Clark made her latest over-the-top statement. She declared the next 28 days "this most important election in modern history."
She forgot to offer a geographic qualification to her statement. Or did she?
In her own mind, this may actually be more important to her than modern democratic milestones such as: Boris Yeltsin's 1991 election in Russia, Nelson Mandela's 1994 election in South Africa and Barack Obama's 2008 election in the U.S.
The statement came almost a week and a half since her April 7 tweet that the Times of India Film Awards had been seen by 400 million people in India.
In fact, the first telecast of the awards on Sony Entertainment Television in India hasn't been announced and could happen in mid-to-late May, after the election.
Bob Mackin will be filing reporter's notebook items to The Tyee throughout the election.
